Today's Word Is: Conditioning
Conditioning is an ABA therapy technique to change the way a child perceives a particular item or event by closely associating it with another item or event that already evokes the perception. Operant conditioning, one type of conditioning, also uses positive and negative reinforcement to help change how often behaviors occur. For example, you reward your child for cleaning their room. Your child will associate cleaning their room with the reward, so they will do it more often to get the reward. The Behavior Exchange is a Behavior Health Center of Excellence® and an in-network provider.
