Winter is blowing through! What will we do?
There is initial excitement that school is canceled due to winter weather, but then excitement quickly turns to boredom! We know that kids still need activities to prevent missing the routine too much. We have a list of ideas on how to make sure everyone has fun while still working toward our therapeutic goals on a snow day. A quick internet search will find instructions for these and many more activities.
Activities for Snow Days
- Frozen bubbles (regular bubbles will freeze)
- Colored Icicles
- Frozen balloons (made with colored water inside a balloon)
- Snow Paint
- Sledding (hint: you do not need a sled!)
- Board games
- Build a fort
- Movies
- Read books together
- Dancing
- Yoga
- Exercise video
- Indoor bowling using household items
- Giant Tic Tac Toe using paper plates and tape
- Homemade play dough, Unicorn bubbles, moon sand or slime
- Decorate a box and create a treasure chest
- Pudding painting
- Painting with things found around the house (i.e., paper towel roll, cups, forks, etc.)
- Bubble baths
- Make music with household items, dig out those pots and pans!
- Cook together – make cookies, smores etc.
- Window painting/drawing
- Video chat family and friends – work on those language skills
