The Science
Today, autism affects 1 in 44 children. According to the CDC, autism spectrum disorder is four times more likely to occur in boys. The best way to support children who are showing signs of a developmental delay is to get them therapy supports as early as possible.
Clinical research shows that early diagnosis and interventions for autism are critical for optimal outcomes and more likely to have significant long-term positive effects on symptoms and later skills. In fact, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that all children be screened for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at ages 18-24 months, along with regular developmental screenings.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the leading approach to improving a child’s development and the gold standard in behavioral therapy for children on the spectrum. Studies have found that children who start ABA therapy as early as possible (~2 years old) make the most significant improvements. One of the main benefits of early intervention is that it provides your child with the unique opportunity to make great developmental strides before they enter a school setting.
B.E.E.S. - Behavior Exchange Early Start
The Behavior Exchange Early Start (B.E.E.S.) program is an early childhood enrichment and school readiness program designed specially for pre-school aged children who have mastered basic foundational skills, such as instruction following, responding to their name, and motor imitation. In B.E.E.S., our expert ABA therapist work with children in a small group (2-3 children) therapy environment structured like a pre-school or kindergarten. This dynamic, fun, and positive environment allows children to learn important skills designed to help them succeed in school and develop socially appropriate behavior for interaction with peers.
Our early intervention program curriculum features a fun and engaging theme each week, including Be Safe, Be Happy, and Be Healthy. Children learn about taking turns, following group routines, sharing, playing games, and communicating with one another while building foundational academic skills. You will receive daily reports on your child’s progress as well as monthly session summaries. You will also be able to observe your child’s therapy sessions, participate in Parent Training to learn how to apply ABA techniques at home and meet with your child’s Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to answer questions and discuss any concerns you may have. The goal is to equip children with the necessary listening and communication skills while developing key language, behavior, and academic skills necessary for lifelong success.
