What is Echolalia?
The first four letters of today’s word give you a clue to its meaning. Echolalia is when a child repeats or echoes sounds, words, or phrases they’ve heard – minutes, hours or even days earlier. For toddlers, repetition and imitation naturally occur as they develop speech and language skills. If a child continues to echo words and sounds after the age of three instead of using language to communicate, ABA therapy can help!
