Happy Thanksgiving from Buddy Bee and Watson Bear
A mascot’s job is never done! That’s why we’re over the moon that our very own Buddy Bee and Watson Bear took time out of their busy schedules to let us know what they’re most thankful for in anticipation of the human celebration we call Thanksgiving Day.
Why are they so busy, you might ask? Well, in addition to their work at The Behavior Exchange making everyone feel welcome and filling families with hope, our lovable and loyal mascots are preparing for the winter months.
Bees like Buddy take shelter from the cold in their hives and spend all winter keeping each other warm, especially their queen bee. Bears like Watson on the other hand are searching for just the right cave or some other snuggly shelter to call home for the winter, where they can hang out, protect their cubs, and take lots of naps until spring comes.
We’re lucky to enjoy Buddy’s and Watson’s company all year long. Buddy makes his home among our three Texas hives (Plano, Frisco, Prosper), while Watson is the big kahuna at our Boulder Hive. Despite the distance between them, they are BFFs and visit each other on special occasions. They also Facetime to stay close.
They indeed have many things to be thankful for. In addition to their friendship, here’s what they said:
Buddy Bee is thankful for…
- Beautiful flowers with their sweet nectar and nutrient-rich pollen
- A well-built hive that protects bee families and welcomes friends
- Bee cups full of water on a hot day and the humans who put them in their gardens
- Wings that give bees the superpower to fly
- Beekeepers and how they teach humans about the many benefits of bees
- Receiving silly texts with dad jokes from Watson
- Everybody who eats honey and keeps bees in business, including bears
Watson Bear is thankful for…
- Bees and the delicious honey they make
- A big fur coat to stay warm when it snows in Colorado
- Yummy salmon and other fish in the beautiful rivers
- Bear trailblazers like Winne the Pooh, Yogi Bear, and Teddy Bear
- The solitude of forests where no one can see him dancing
- Big paws that give bears the superpower to swim fast
- Springtime!
Above all, Buddy and Watson said they’re most thankful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children with autism and their loving families. All of us here at The Behavior Exchange couldn’t agree more.
